Women's Soccer Preview: Frostburg State & Notre Dame (Ohio)

WVWC women's soccer has two road tests on the schedule this week.

The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan (3-4-1) women's soccer team travels to Frostburg State on Wednesday (Oct. 6) for a 7 p.m. kickoff before heading to the Cleveland area on Sunday (Oct. 10) to face Notre Dame (Ohio) at 3 p.m.

Quick Hits
  • Last time out, the Bobcats defeated Fairmont State, 1-0 on Sunday (Oct. 3) after Natalie Pireu found Danielle Jonas on a free kick for a golden goal in the first half of overtime.
  • Pireu earned Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday (Oct. 4).
  • Wesleyan shut out Davis & Elkins on the road, 1-0 on Wednesday (Sept. 29). MaKatlyn Tucker scored the only goal of the game in the 27th minute off of a corner kick from Ellie Pergolotti.
  • Jadyn Tavekelian has played the most minutes for the Bobcats this season (732).
  • Freshmen Kameron Bonneau and Paloma Zamora each have one goal this season.

Scouting Frostburg State
Frostburg State is off to stellar start to the season with a 6-2-1 overall record (5-1-1 in MEC play).
Alexis Pate leads the way with five goals. Toni Flocco-Mizor has added three goals and one assist.
Brian Parker enters his 19th season at the helm with a record of 222-109-39.

Scouting Notre Dame (Ohio)
The reigning MEC Tournament champions are 2-2-3 entering the week.
Louisa Follert paces the Falcons with four goals and an assist. Sammy Salatino has three goals and one assist thus far.
Head coach Mike Shiels is in his 19th season in charge of the Notre Dame (Ohio) women's soccer program.
