Nick Patella enters his second season as the West Virginia Wesleyan head coach. Prior to WVWC, Patella served as the head coach of nearby Davis & Elkins for four years. The Elkins, W. Va., native played basketball at West Virginia University under John Beilein from 2002-05 and was a member of the 2004-05 Mountaineers Elite Eight team. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at WVWC.Â

Scouting West Virginia State
The Yellow Jackets are 6-5 overall and currently on a four-game losing streak after a 96-81 setback against Concord on Wednesday (Feb. 17). West Virginia State edged Wesleyan by a final of 94-89 in Buckhannon on Wednesday, Jan. 20.Â

Anthony Pittman is averaging a double-double of 17.9 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per game. Pittman tallied 24 points and snagged 13 rebounds on Wednesday (Feb. 17) against Concord.Â

Glen Abram is averaging 23.0 points a night through 11 games. He dropped 21 points and dished out eight assists on Jan. 20 in the victory over WVWC.

Bryan Poore is in his 22nd season as the head coach at West Virginia State. Poore is the winningest coach in Yellow Jacket men's basketball program history with a 330-272 record since taking over in 1999.Â
