Late Goals Push Davis & Elkins Past WVWC

The game was scoreless until the 84th minute as Wesleyan men's soccer dropped a road decision to nationally-ranked D&E.

ELKINS, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team (2-3-0) fell to No. 15 Davis & Elkins (4-1-0) by a final score of 2-0 at Nuttall Field on Friday (March 26).

WVWC goalkeeper Sahil Dhunookchand saved back-to-back Senator shots in the 33rd and 35th minute. The latter when Dhunookchand shifted to his left to stop it.

Lauri Vasa registered Wesleyan's only shot of the match in the 42nd minute. The game was scoreless at halftime.

The score remained deadlocked 0-0 until the 84th minute when David Jara played the ball from the middle to the left side. Anderson Marroquin took the pass and beat the keeper one-on-one to put D&E ahead 1-0.

Davis & Elkins added some insurance after a goal off of Daniel Cerezo's right foot in the 87th minute.

Wesleyan men's soccer is scheduled to travel to West Liberty on Friday (April 2) at 7 p.m. for its next contest.
