The West Virginia Wesleyan men's and women's swimming teams travel to Frostburg State on Saturday (March 6) for a meet beginning at 1 p.m. It will mark the first competition for Bobcat swimming since Friday, Feb. 12.Â

Michael McAlpine was selected as the Mountain East Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week, the league announced on Monday (Feb. 15). This is the second time that Assfeld has won the award in his WVWC swimming career. Â

Arthur Assfeld was selected as the Mountain East Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week, the league announced on Monday (Feb. 8). This is the seventh time that Assfeld has won the award in his WVWC swimming career. Â

Marc Bennett earned 2020 MEC First Team honors in the 200-IM as well as conference Second Team honors in the 400-IM last season.Â

Amanda Schlor garnered MEC First Team honors last season in the 100-Backstroke and 200-Backstroke.Â

Adam Brumley is in his second season as the head coach of his alma mater.Â

Last Time in the Pool
The West Virginia Wesleyan swim program was back in action Friday night (Feb. 12) hosting Mountain East newcomer Alderson Broaddus on Senior Night.

Both teams had overwhelming performances sweeping the Battlers on both sides. On the women's side the Bobcats took home the 82-3 victory. In a similar contest, the men continued their success on Friday night bringing home a 76-2 Victory. Five different seniors won events during their last home meet at WVWC.

Senior
Kay Lange picked up where she left off last Saturday winning two more individual events 1000-free (11:28.39) and 500-free (5:45.17). Fellow senior
Alyssa Serrano posted second place finishes in two events including the 200-IM (2:27.60) and 100-fly (1:08.29).

Fresh off his seventh Mountain East Conference Swimmer of the Week award senior,
Arthur Assfeld posted a season best time of 21.63 seconds in the 50-free. Assfeld was victorious in the 100-free touching the wall in 48.04 seconds.

Michael McAlpine won the 1000-free (10:59.22) and set a season-best in the 500-free by three seconds (5:15.13).

Fellow senior
Nathan Swalley came out on top in the 100-fly (58.60). Rounding out the night for the Bobcat seniors was Mikel Mugarza-Pascual as he won the 200-IM (2:09.70), and 100-breast (1:07.35).
