ELKINS, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (6-4) volleyball team dropped its road contest against Davis & Elkins (8-2) on Friday (March 5) night at the McDonnell Center in Elkins, W.Va.

WVWC Leaders
Emily Doyle was the lone Bobcat attacker with double-digit kills. Doyle accumulated 10 kills and swung at a .556 clip. Lexis Tatum had seven kills while Anaya Hyman added six kills for WVWC.

Two Wesleyan setters racked up double-digit assists: Payton Hefner (17) & Maddi Carpenter (14). Five Bobcats smashed service aces. Carpenter led the charge with two aces while Hefner, Doyle, Lauryn Antolock and Kennedy Kuhns each had one ace.

Autumn Molenhouse finished the night with 18 digs. Joelle Lalla, Michela Ayers, and Antolock each had two block assists. Tatum added a solo block.Â

Davis & Elkins Leaders
Macie Magallon and Amaya Morales led the D&E attack. Magallon had 16 kills while Morales finished with 11. Brilane Manchego distributed the ball for the Senators by dishing out 32 assists.

The Senators had eight service aces. Morales led D&E with three aces. Manchego and Cynthia Arango each had two aces and Maria Isabel Butruce Candiota had one. Arango led Davis & Elkins with 13 digs.

Inside the First Set
The 'Cats held a 16-10 lead in the first set. D&E chipped away at the deficit and cut the score to 16-14 in favor of WVWC. The Bobcats won the next three points that included kills from Tatum and Doyle to give Wesleyan a 19-14 advantage.

The home team went on a 5-2 run to trim the WVWC advantage to 21-19. Hyman smashed a kill to give the Bobcats a three point edge. A Senator service error extended the Bobcat lead to 23-19. D&E closed out the set by claiming the next six points to win the opening set by a score of 25-23. Doyle tallied five kills in the first set while Hyman added four.

Inside the Second Set
Davis & Elkins controlled set two and never trailed. Tatum and Doyle each tallied three kills in the second set. D&E won the second set 25-21.

Inside the Third Set
The Senators held a 14-11 lead in the third set. The Bobcats won the next three points to even the score at 14. D&E took the next three points, but WVWC slashed the D&E lead to one after a kill by Doyle. The Bobcats took a one point lead (21-20) after a quick 3-0 run. The Senators won the next three points to take a two point lead. After an attack error from D&E, WVWC cut the Senator lead to one point. Davis & Elkins went on to take the next two points and close out the set, 25-22 in the 3-0 match victory.Â
