Series-Opening Doubleheader goes to Golden Eagles

Wesleyan baseball dropped game one by a score of 15-3 before a strong outing from Mitchell Courtney in the second game.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Mitchell Courtney pitched six strong innings in game two, but Charleston (19-3) won the pitcher's duel to secure a doubleheader sweep of West Virginia Wesleyan (3-9) at Segra Field on Saturday, April 10. 
 
Game One (Charleston 15, WVWC 3)
The Bobcats struck first on a Tyler Ostendorf RBI single in the top of the second inning. 
 
Charleston began to pull away in the third inning. 
 
Wesleyan pushed across another run in the seventh inning on a run-scoring groundout by Adrian Delgado in the 15-3 defeat. 
 
Game Two (Charleston 2, WVWC 0)
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when a single by Pete Costigan broke the deadlock. A hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded plated the other run of the contest. 
 
Wesleyan's lone hit came in the top of the seventh when Cade Leach singled to left field. 
 
Courtney struck out five batters over six innings of work.
