CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Hunter Eplin hit his first collegiate home run, but West Virginia Wesleyan (3-11) baseball fell in both games of a doubleheader to Charleston (21-3) at the Welch Athletic Complex on Sunday, April 11.Â

Game One (Charleston 11, WVWC 4)
The Bobcats wasted very little time to get on the board in the top of the first inning. With two runners on,
Cade Leach brought home
Nick Grotti on a single to right field.Â

Charleston answered with five runs in the ensuing half inning highlighted by a Pete Costigan 3-run homer to left. After two innings, Charleston led 8-1.Â

An RBI groundout on the right side by
Bryson Fluke and a
Tyler Ostendorf single to center cut the deficit to 8-3 in the top of the third. Hayden Cartt (bottom of third) and Colby Johnson (bottom of fifth) both hit home runs for the Golden Eagles.Â

Eplin slammed his first collegiate home run over the left field wall in the top of the sixth inning as Wesleyan trailed 11-4.Â

Connor Gotthalm and
Kyle Riggleman both tossed scoreless innings in relief.Â

Game Two (Charleston 12, WVWC 1)
Eplin (0-1) started on the mound in game two for Wesleyan. The Golden Eagles scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the second.Â

Sam Ingram cut the early deficit in half with a single to right field that plated
Nick Grotti.Â

Charleston steadily increased its advantage to 5-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth when the home team scored seven more runs.Â
