Box Score BUCKHANNON, W.Va.-- Early momentum was the key for the West Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team (5-4) in a dominant win over Frostburg State on Tuesday (April 20). WVWC took down FSU by a final score of 7-0.
 
The men conceded one point to FSU during the doubles portion of the contest. Anthony McIntosh and Camillo Salvi, and Carlos Dodero Fernandez, and Haruki Iizuka thwarted their opponents (6-0).
 
Harry Simaioforidis and Taylor Papworth dropped one game at No. 1 beating their opponent (6-1).
 
WVWC carried that staunch demeanor into singles action, where they convincingly swept the FSU lineup.
 
Dodero Fernandez took care of his opponent at No. 1 (6-1, 6-0). The win is Fernandez's fourth consecutive singles victory.
 
As he's shown all season, Papworth was calm and collected in his match at No. 3. Papworth won the first set by a convincing 6-0. Papworth dropped two games in the second set, but it proved to be a nonfactor as he pulled out the victory winning (6-0, 6-2).
 
Back at No. 2, Simaioforidis had a similar result winning his match (6-0, 6-1). Simaioforidis's victory clinched the victory for WVWC putting them up 4-0.
 
Ethan Thomas cracked the lineup today for Wesleyan getting his shot at No. 6. Thomas was deliberate and precise, the entire match dropping only one game in two sets. Thomas finished his opponent by a final of (6-1, 6-0).
 
Salvi and McIntosh both handled their opponents in straight sets to round out the scoring for WVWC.
 
WVWC will be back in action on Saturday (April 24) for a redemption match against West Liberty at home on senior night. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
