BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (14-10) softball team hit six total home runs and responded well in a doubleheader split against No. 25 Charleston (26-8) at Culpepper Field on Friday, April 23.Â

Game One (UC 17, WVWC 6)
The second batter of the game Karli Pinkerton drove in the first run of the contest on a single to center. Megan Eder singles home Pinkerton as Charleston went on to score a total of six runs on six hits in the top of the first inning.
Kelley Bourne blasted her fourth home run of the season over the fence in left center in the bottom of the second to get the Bobcats on the board.
Trailing 7-1, Wesleyan cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the fourth. Bourne reached on an error by the Charleston left fielder and scored on a single by
Bella Posey.
Molly Osborne ripped a 2-run double to left center.
The Golden Eagles responded with an 10-run top of the fifth highlighted by home runs from Brionna Bowman, Eder and Gracie Donato.
Kennedy Cowart turned on a pitch and lifted a solo homer to right field in the bottom half of the fifth. A batter later,
Kiley Turner also left the yard on a solo homer, this one over the left field fence.
Game Two (WVWC 5, UC 2)
Grace Hightower crushed a high fly ball that sailed over the right field fence for a solo homer in the bottom of the third as WVWC got on the board first. Still in the bottom of the third inning,
Brooke Clark cranked a solo shot of her own to left center. Clark leads WVWC with five home runs this season.
The score remained 2-0 until the top of the fifth inning when Allysa Lake hit a solo homer to left field. Charleston tied the game, 2-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Turner smoked a solo homer to left for a late 3-2 edge. Later in the inning, Clark delivered a clutch hit that brought home two key insurance runs. Clark finished 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI.

Abigail O'Shields (8-4) held off the Golden Eagles to pick up another complete game victory with six strikeouts.
