INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (3-19) baseball team was edged by West Virginia State (23-7) in game one before the Yellow Jackets pulled away in game two at Calvin L. Bailey Field on Monday, April 25.Â

Game One (WVSU 2, WVWC 1)
Eric Forbrick lifted Wesleyan to an early 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly to right field that scored
Sam Ingram in the top of the first. West Virginia State answered in the bottom half of the frame on an RBI single to left by Matthew Kline.Â

The score remained 1-1 until the bottom of the fourth when Michael Stone singled the go-ahead run home for WVSU.
Alec Tamburri entered out of the bullpen for
Robbie Baker (0-1). With a pair of runners on, Tamburri struck out Andrew Stone looking.Â

Nick Loftis (5-0) limited the Bobcats to a pair of hits over 6.0 innings of work. Tamburri only allowed one hit in 2.1 innings and struck out two batters.Â

Game Two (WVSU 8, WVWC 2)
The Yellow Jackets led 2-0 after two innings before
Sam Ross drove in
Bryson Fluke on a sacrifice fly to center in the top of the third.Â
Â
Trailing 4-1 in the top of the fifth, Ross brought in another run on a single up the middle.
Kline hit a solo home run to left center in the bottom of the fifth, before connecting on a 2-run homer in the bottom of the sixth for an 8-2 advantage.

After collecting another hit, Forbrick now stands alone in 10th all-time in WVWC baseball history in career hits.Â
