Sisson & Kolenich Post Career-High Goal Totals, Alderson Broaddus Wins In Shootout

Senior Victoria Sisson found the back of the net six times while sophomore Iris Kolenich added four goals for Wesleyan.

PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- Victoria Sisson scored a career-high six goals and Iris Kolenich scored a career-high four goals for the West Virginia Wesleyan lacrosse team (0-4) in a 19-11 defeat at Alderson Broaddus (1-4) on Saturday (April 3) in Philippi, W.Va.
 
WVWC Leaders
Sisson and Kolenich accounted for 10 of the 11 WVWC goals. Lauren Bolen scored her first goal of her senior season. Kolenich tallied three assists while Bolen distributed two assists.
 
Kolenich racked up six ground balls for the Bobcats. Dakota Joseph, Sam Mise, and Gabrielle Cleaveland all had three ground balls. Joseph caused two turnovers. Cleaveland made 15 saves on 34 shots on goal.
 
Alderson Broaddus Leaders
A pair of Battlers scored five goals, Leslie Diaz and Brooke Dinehart. Bailey Fedun scored four goals for AB. Diaz and Bailey Fedun each had two assists.
 
Diaz picked up five ground balls and caused four turnovers. Morgan Winterbottom caused four turnovers as well. Goalkeeper Taylor Young made seven saves.
 
Inside the First Half
Alderson Broaddus got on the board early, scoring two goals within the first minute of the contest. The Bobcats responded with a Sisson goal to make the score 2-1 with 27:05 left in the first half. The Battlers scored three more goals to increase their lead to 5-1. Sisson struck again to close the gap to 5-2.
 
After an AB goal, Kolenich scored her first goal of the afternoon to make the score 6-3 in favor of AB. The Battlers scored six consecutive goals to go up 12-3 with 8:00 left in the first frame. Sisson scored an unassisted goal with 7:25 to go. After an AB goal, the Bobcats scored two goals, one from Bolen and one from Sisson to close out the half down 13-6.
 
Inside the Second Half
Fedun started the scoring in the second half for AB giving the Battlers a 14-6 cushion. Kolenich responded with an unassisted goal. Following a goal from AB, Kolenich added two more goals to make the score 15-9 with 22:07 left in the second half. Sisson scored consecutive goals to close the AB deficit within 4 goals. Alderson Broaddus would go on to score four consecutive goals and win the game 19-11.
