Softball Preview: Davis & Elkins, West Virginia State & Charleston

WVWC softball is prepared for three consecutive road doubleheaders.

The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan softball team is gearing up for three consecutive doubleheaders away from Buckhannon. On Wednesday (April 7), the Bobcats visit nearby Davis & Elkins before hitting the road to West Virginia State (April 10) and Charleston (April 11). 
 
Quick Hits
• Kennedy Cowart went 5-for-7 at the plate in the doubleheader sweep of Alderson Broaddus on Monday, April 5. 
• Hannah Hudson has already compiled a 3-0 record in the circle.
• Abigail O'Shields spun a no-hitter in a five-inning, 9-0 victory over Glenville State on Saturday (March 27). 
• Kelley Bourne and Lauryn King have both hit home runs this season. 
• Brooke Clark leads the team in RBI (9). 
• Steve Warner enters his 29th season as the head coach of the Wesleyan softball program. He has accumulated an astonishing 1080-398-1 overall record during that span. 
 
Scouting Davis & Elkins
Davis & Elkins is 5-7 to start the season after splitting a doubleheader against Notre Dame (Ohio) on Monday, April 5. 
 
Lilly Saucedo and Maddie Lavelle have both recorded three home runs and 10 RBI this season for the Senators. 
 
Jenna Evans leads the way in the circle with a 5-2 record and 49 strikeouts over 39.1 innings. 
 
Elle Fracker enters her first season as the head coach at Davis & Elkins. Fracker was the head coach at Division-II Fort Lewis from 2015-2019. 
 
Scouting West Virginia State
The West Virginia State softball team is currently 14-6 overall and 11-1 in the MEC. 
 
Emma Ruth paces the Yellow Jackets in RBI (15) and has also hit two home runs. Madison Rafuson has been steady at the dish with a .396 batting average. 
 
Autumn Thompson holds a 2.19 earned run average and a 6-1 record in the circle. 
 
Nip Anderson is currently the interim head coach of the Yellow Jackets. 
 
Scouting Charleston
The Charleston softball team is 14-4 overall through its first 18 games and takes a 7-game winning streak into Wednesday (April 7). 
 
Megan Eder is the Golden Eagle leader in RBI with 20. Ann-Judie Martin and Gracie Donato have each clubbed a pair of homers. 
 
Danielle Bauer (56 strikeouts) and Morgan Hoppe have logged the most innings in the circle for Charleston.
 
Kimberly Stiles is in her fifth season as the head coach of Golden Eagle softball. 
 
Up Next
Wesleyan softball is scheduled for another road trip, this time to Wheeling (April 17) and West Liberty (April 18) for a pair of doubleheaders.
