CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team fell in the Mountain East Conference Tournament final to the top-ranked Charleston Golden Eagles by a final score of 4-1 on Sunday (May 2).Â

Charleston took the doubles point after winning at No. 1 and No. 3.

Taylor Papworth secured a point for the Bobcats after defeating Jake Magill in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) at No.4.

Carlos Dodero Fernandez had taken John Giesberts to a third set after winning 6-3 in the second. The match did not finish as Charleston had already clinched the match.

The Bobcats await the final regional rankings from Oracle/ITA to see if their season extends. WVWC currently sits in 10th and finished the season with a 6-2 stretch that included multiple wins over top teams in the region.
