The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis program (7-5) once again will make an appearance in the NCAA Tournament as the Bobcats were selected as the No. 4 seed in the Atlantic Regional.
WVWC will face No. 1 seed Charleston at the Schoenbaum Courts in Charleston, W.Va., on Saturday (May 8) at 1 p.m. in a rematch of last week's Mountain East Conference Championship final.
No. 3 seed Edinboro will play No. 2 seed Bluefield State in the other Atlantic Regional semifinal.
Scouting Charleston Men's Tennis
- The Golden Eagles enter the regional matchup with a 12-2 record, including 11 straight wins, with their only losses coming at the hands of Grand Valley State and Division I opponent Northern Kentucky.
- John Giesberts was named MEC Player of the Year and Frantisek Pirek was named MEC Freshman of the Year.
- Head Coach Matt Santen is in his 15th season at the helm of the Golden Eagles' program, and his UC program has qualified for seven NCAA tournaments during his tenure.
