Women's Soccer Preview: Concord & West Virginia State

Wesleyan women's soccer will travel south to Beckley, W.Va. for a road test at Concord before returning home under the lights on Sunday night.

The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team travels to Beckley, W.Va., on Wednesday, Sept. 22 to play Concord at 5:30 p.m. before welcoming West Virginia State to Culpepper Stadium on Sunday (Sept. 26) at 7 p.m.

Quick Hits
  • Last time out, the Bobcats lost in overtime to Charleston by a final score of 2-1 on Sunday, Sept. 19.
  • Captain Natalie Pireu converted a free kick to put WVWC ahead 2-1 halfway through the first half for her third goal of the season.
  • Freshman Kameron Bonneau scored her first collegiate goal against Glenville State in Wesleyan's 3-0 victory over Glenville State on Wednesday (Sept. 15).
  • Paloma Zamora scored her first collegiate goal against Glenville State in the shutout win on Wednesday (Sept. 15).

Scouting Concord
The Mountain Lions enter the contest with a perfect record (5-0-0 overall and 3-0 in the MEC). Concord has conceded just two goals during its first five games. Last time out, the Mountain Lions comfortably defeated Davis & Elkins, 4-0.

Yasmin Mosby of Hatfield, England leads the goal scoring charts for Concord with seven goals in only five games including a hat trick against D&E. Leah Foster, also from England, has provided six assists so far.

Luke Duffy is into his sixth season in charge at Concord and took home the MEC Women's Sports Coach of the Year award last year.

Scouting West Virginia State
The Yellow Jackets have an overall record of 2-2-0 (1-1 in the MEC) and defeated Glenville State, 3-0.

Brooklyn Pritt leads the points chart with four after a goal and two assists so far this season. Freshman Laura Galindo has kept two clean sheets thus far.

Lisa Mann is into her third year in charge of the Yellow Jacket women's soccer program. West Virginia State will play Davis & Elkins on Thursday (Sept. 23) before making the trip to Buckhannon on Sunday.
