WVWC Tennis Finishes Fall Season with Victories at the Belmont Abbey Invite

Camillo Salvi shined and racked up five wins in North Carolina at the Belmont Abbey Invite.

BELMONT, N.C. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan men's and women's tennis teams competed in the Belmont Abbey Invitational this past weekend (Oct. 14-15) against several nationally-ranked teams. The Bobcats secured over a dozen wins in the two-day competition, including wins over Belmont Abbey, Lenoir Rhyne, Carson Newman and Queens College.

"We knew this would be a real test for us as we haven't seen what our level could be going into spring," said WVWC Tennis Head Coach Kyle Hoffman. "Both teams competed well and secured both singles and doubles victories throughout the weekend."

The team was led by Camillo Salvi who secured five wins for the Bobcats in his singles and doubles play with Kevin Lin.

"It's the type of play you want to see from your senior leader," added Hoffman. "He was in all of his matches on both days, fought through some tough third set tiebreaks to lead us to some quality wins."

The Bobcats also got some help from several of their freshmen.

"I thought we had great effort and some quality wins for Cayley and Fatima this weekend," remarked Hoffman. "Sometimes it's easy to place Cayley as an upperclassman as she started in spring, but this is her first fall in the program too. We saw a good level out of Jonathan, Ishan, and Kevin as well as they all picked up multiple wins each and showed some resiliency in some tighter matches."
