BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Freshman Talia Stacy's goal in the 73^rd minute was all the West Virginia Wesleyan (2-7-1, 2-5-1) women's soccer needed to edge Notre Dame (Ohio) (3-4-2, 2-3-2) on Sunday (Oct. 2) afternoon at Cebe Ross Field.

In the game's third minute, NDC's Madison Marino was handed a red card, leaving the Falcons to play with 10 players for the remainder of the match. Wesleyan tallied five shots in the first half, including two on target. Paloma Zamora fired two shots, while Ellie Pergolotti and Stacy each totaled a shot on goal. Ally Moore made two saves, stopping scoring opportunities from Anaya Edwards. No team could score in the first half of play.

The Bobcats made halftime adjustments and were more aggressive in the second half of play. Ava Badallo, Beth Burchett and Maggie Queen all fired shots within the first ten minutes of the second frame. After Jordan Pasalaqua made her fifth save of the afternoon in the 72^nd minute, the NDC goalkeeper attempted to clear the ball into the Falcons' offensive side of the field. Stacy intercepted a pass and broke through the back line of the NDC defense. Stacy shot the ball past Pasalaqua and into the back of the net to give the Bobcats a goal. Moore made two clutch saves down the stretch to keep the Falcons off the scoreboard. WVWC earned its first home victory of the season.
 
West Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer is set to play Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday (Oct. 5) at 5 p.m. in Philippi, W.Va.
