Bobcats Fall to Falcons

Isabella Verona scored a pair of goals for WVWC.

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The West Virginia Wesleyan (3-9, 0-6) lacrosse team dropped a road Mountain East Conference game versus Notre Dame (Ohio) (6-6, 5-1) on Friday (April 22) afternoon at Mueller Field.
 
WVWC Leaders
Isabella Verona found the back of the net twice. Kaitlyn Canby and Emma Adcock each contributed a score. Canby, Adcock and Maggie Wroe all picked up two ground balls, while Canby and Iris Kolenich caused two turnovers.Wroe racked up 11 saves.
 
Notre Dame (Ohio) Leaders
Emileigh Scott and Charlotte Vari led the Falcons with five goals each. Ebony Reddick facilitated the offense with nine assists. Megan Dano, Piper Hammond and Alicyn Loberg caused three turnovers and scooped up three ground balls. Mackenzie Levine was credited the win and made one save in goal.
 
Inside the First Half
The Falcons scored four quick goals. Verona marked her first goal of the day at the 7:17 mark in the first frame. After two NDC goals, Canby scored with two minutes left in the first quarter to put WVWC within four goals. Scott put one away in the waning seconds of the first period that gave the home team a 7-2 lead. The first six goals of the second quarter belonged to NDC. Adcock scored WVWC's third goal with 6:02 left in the first half. The Falcons led 15-3 at intermission.
 
Inside the Second Half
It was all Falcons in the third quarter. NDC added to their lead with six goals in the third period. Verona scored her second goal of the afternoon in the fourth quarter. The Falcons handled the Bobcats and won at home, 26-4.

The Bobcats return to Ross Field on Wednesday (April 27) for an MEC tilt versus Frostburg State beginning at 3:30 p.m.
