Karasawa Wins Freshman of the Year, Three Bobcats Collect Postseason Awards

Kihiro Karasawa won Mountain East Conference Freshman of the Year and collected First Team All-Conference honors on Friday (Apr. 29).

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va.-- Kihiro Karasawa was named Mountain East Conference Freshman of the Year, the league announced on Friday (Apr. 29). Along with his freshman of the year award, Karasawa was also named First Team All-MEC.
 
Karasawa, a freshman from Iizuna, Japan, played most of the season as the no.1 for the Bobcats. Karasawa showed composure all season on his way to his freshman of the year and First Team All-Mec honor.
 
Camillo Salvi was the second Bobcat to receive first-team all-mec recognition. In addition, the Verona, Italy native collected Second Team All-MEC honors in 2021.
 
Taylor Papworth earned Second Team All-Mec honors by the conference. The junior from Weybridge, England, collected First Team All-MEC awards in 2021 and continued his run of success in 2022 with his second all-conference award.
 
The Bobcats travel to Charleston to take on the Golden Eagles in the opening round of the MEC Championships on Saturday (Apr. 30).
