Women's Soccer Preview: Frostburg State & Notre Dame (Ohio)

WVWC women's soccer hosts two MEC North opponents this week.

The Basics
West Virginia Wesleyan (1-6-1, 1-4-1) women's soccer will play Frostburg State on Wednesday (Sept. 28) at 7:15 p.m. at Buckhannon-Upshur High School before hosting Notre Dame (Ohio) at Cebe Ross Field on Sunday (Oct. 2) at 4 p.m.

Scouting Frostburg State
Frostburg State has been dominant, winning all eight matches it has played. FSU checks in at number 23 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25 National Poll. The Bobcats are outscoring opponents 25-3 and are averaging 3.13 goals per game. Frostburg State has fired 156 shots this season while opponents have managed to tally 56.
 
Junior forward Toni Fiocco-Mizer ranks second in the MEC with 18 points. Fiocco-Mizer scored two goals versus Georgian Court on Sept. 3. The Severna Park, Md., native was named MEC Offensive Player of the Week, Presented by The Health Plan, after recording a pair of goals and two assists in games versus Fairmont State and Davis & Elkins.
 
Mackenzie Alonso (11) and Carolyn DeSena (10) have racked up double-digit point totals. Goalkeeper Ashley Bilger has logged over 640 minutes in goal and has made 22 saves.

 
Brian Parker is the head coach of Frostburg State women's soccer. Parker has been at the helm of the program for over 20 seasons.
 
Scouting Notre Dame (Ohio)
Notre Dame (Ohio) begins the week at fourth place in the MEC North Division with a conference mark of 1-2-2.
 
The Falcons' netminder, Jordan Pasalaqua, leads the conference with three clean sheets. The senior from Madison, Ohio has made 22 saves in six games. Freshman Emma Buda leads NDC with five points. Buda has accumulated two goals and an assist in her freshman campaign.

Head coach Mike Shiels is in his 20th season in charge of Notre Dame College women's soccer. Shiels was an all-conference honoree during his playing days at Mercyhurst College.
 
Up Next
Wesleyan has two road matches on the docket next week. The Bobcats travel to Philippi on Wednesday (Oct. 5) for a game versus Alderson Broaddus and conclude the week with a matchup versus Concord on Oct. 9.
