BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team (5-12, 1-3) was defeated by West Virginia State (17-1, 4-0) on Friday (Sept. 30) night at the Rockefeller Center in Buckhannon, W.Va.

WVWC Leaders
Hope Arce-Reed led the Bobcats at the net with 12 kills.
Payton Hefner passed a team-high 16 assists and had a pair of service aces.
Jayla Cowherd and
Joelle Lalla each had two blocks.
Autumn Molenhouse led WVWC with 14 digs.

Inside Set One
Set one began close as the two foes were tied 5-5. The Yellow Jackets took the lead 6-5 and never looked back. WVSU had three scoring runs of three points or more to win set one, 25-16.

Inside Set Two
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 4-1 lead. Wesleyan fired off five straight points, including two kills from Arce-Reed to lead 6-4. WVSU fought back to tie the score 10-10. The Bobcats scored four of the following six points to lead 14-12.

Wesleyan earned its largest lead of the set on a service ace from Molenhouse at 17-13. The Yellow Jackets put their foot on the gas scoring 12 of the final 13 points to win set two, 25-18.

Inside Set Three
The Yellow Jackets controlled set two from start to finish. The Yellow Jackets led 11-3 after 14 possible points. Wesleyan rallied behind two separate three-point runs to cut the deficit to six, 20-14. WVSU scored five of the final seven points to win set three, 25-16.
