WHEELING, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (1-0-2) men's soccer team played Wheeling (1-1-1) to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday (Sept. 7) night.
 
The first 25 minutes saw both teams battle in transition. The Bobcats broke the deadlock in the 26th minute after Javier De Ona Garcia smashed a rocket towards the bottom corner leaving the keeper with absolutely no chance. After 45 minutes of play, Wesleyan was ahead.
 
The Cardinals were awarded a penalty kick in the 65th minute. Richard Afolayanka converted the kick and tied the score. The Cardinals doubled their goal tally when Diego Buenano found himself inside the area and placed a shot past WVWC goalkeeper Logan Nelson.
 
In the closing minutes of the game, a long throw flicked on by Charlie Naylor found Sam Newell from close range to even the score and bring the Bobcats back to tie the game.
 
The Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday (Sept. 11) in Charleston against the Golden Eagles. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
