BUCKHANNON, W.Va – West Virginia Wesleyan Men's Basketball team is set to face Concord at home on Wednesday night for another home conference matchup. The Bobcats have lost the last five meetings between the two, with their last win coming on January 15, 2020.
CONCORD MOUNTAIN LIONS
The Mountain Lions enter (8-4) overall and (5-3) in MEC play. In their last outing, CU defeated Wheeling on the road 81-76. Concord currently sits in a tie for 4
th place in the MEC Standings.
CU has been a force on the boards, ranking 1
st in Team Rebounds (43.3 AVG/G), 2
nd in Offensive Rebounds (13.9 AVG/G) and 1
st in Rebounding Margin (6.8 AVG/G) in the MEC. The Mountain Lions do rank last in Turnover Margin at -2.75 and 11
th in Assist/Turnover Ratio at 0.77.
Concord features four players averaging double-figures, led by Lual Rahama's 16.3 PPG which ranks 9
th in the league. Rahama also leads the Mountain Lions in rebounds, pulling down 9.6 per contest. Jevon Laidler (11.2 PPG) has been one of the most efficient field goal shooters in the league at 49%.
Todd May is in his 7
th season as Head Coach of the Mountain Lions. May has coached five All-Conference selections and one All-American in his tenure. May is off to his second-best start since becoming HC, only behind his 9-3 start in the 2018-19 campaign.
WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN BOBCATS
The Bobcats enter (1-11) and (1-7) in MEC play. WVWC is coming off a 106-76 loss at home to WV State on Saturday evening.
Wesleyan ranks 4
th in the MEC in steals per game (8.7 AVG/G) and 6
th in Offensive Rebounds (10.9 AVG/G).
Cameron University transfer
Darius Green leads the Bobcats in scoring (16.0 PPG), rebounds (6.6 RPG) and assists (2.1 APG). Green's 16.0 PPG ranks him 10
th in the MEC, right behind Concord's Lual Rahama.
Tyler Slone is currently sitting at 12.7 PPG and leading the team in 3-Point FG% (41%). Slone comes off a career-high 29 points against WV State.
