Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Bobcats Fall to Charleston 4-0 in Season Rematch

A lackluster first half by West Virginia Wesleyan College's men's soccer team and a University of Charleston desire to get even for its only loss of the year to the Bobcats back in September, culminated in a four-goal advantage in the first 45 minutes, Sunday in Charleston.

Within the first eight minutes, Charleston had its first two goals, one on a penalty kick for a handball in the box, and the second on a successful corner kick that was not well-defended by the Bobcats.

Wesleyan continued to struggle in the first half, delivering just one shot to Charleston's 12 shots. The Golden Eagles would go on to accumulate 25 total shots by match's end to the Bobcats lone first half try.

The Bobcats have sealed a post-season birth in the MEC tournament, currently holding the 4th spot (17 points), but positioning remains in question as the 3rd through 6th spots are just four points apart. Six teams make the conference post-season. Seeds No. 1 and 2 get byes in the first round.

Wesleyan travels to Notre Dame (OH), the MEC's current 2nd place team (24 points), on Wednesday, Oct. 25 for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
