Wesleyan Volleyball Struggles in Conference Match Against Rival Glenville State

The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats hosted Glenville State for their third conference matchup of the 2023 season. After coming off a loss to the University of Charleston in their previous conference matchup, the Bobcats would fall to the Pioneers 3 straight sets, falling to 4-9 on the season and 0-3 in the conference.

The first set of this match was a back and forth battle, as both teams worked hard to take control over this match early. The Glenville State Pioneers were able to pull away and take set 1 25-17, securing the momentum as they went into set 2. The Pioneers were led by Rita Kelly and Katarzyna Niderla who combined for almost 20 kills for the entire match. The Pioneers would keep this momentum and win set 2 and 3 in similar a fashion. Defeating the Bobcats in both sets 25-19, completing the sweep for the match. Despite the slow start and finish by the Bobcats, they were led by Bhrooke Axe , Hope Arce-Reed, and Olivia Albrecht , as they combined for almost 25 kills for the game. These players were also assisted by freshman Sophie Gerlach , who finished with a game high 31 assist.

The Bobcats will look to bounce back from these string of loses as they will travel to Concord University on Oct. 3, looking to get their first conference win of the season.
