The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats traveled to Concord University for its fourth conference matchup of the 2023 season. After coming off a loss to Glenville State in their previous conference matchup, the Bobcats would be looking to bounce back and get a much needed conference victory. The Bobcats would ultimately fall to the Mountain Lions, losing the match 4-1 and falling to 4-10 on the season and 0-4 in conference.
The first set of this match was very intense, and each team was looking to set the tone for the entire game. At the end of this back and forth battle the Mountain Lions were able to win the first set 25-20, barely squeezing past the Bobcats. The Bobcats would look to stop the momentum of the Mountain Lions in the 2nd set but fell short, losing the 2nd set 17-25. The Mountain Lions were led by Meg Williams who finished with 19 kills and Chloe Thompson who finished with 15 kills. After losing the first two sets, the Bobcats still continued to fight, which led to them winning their first set of the match, 25-20, looking to change the outlook of this game. Emily Denison who finished with 12 kills. The Mountain Lions would stop the Bobcats in their tracks and take back control of the match, winning the final set 25-22, giving the Bobcats their 4th conference loss of the season.
The Bobcats will continue their 2023 campaign against West Virginia State on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. The Bobcats will be looking to get their first conference win of the season.
