Men’s Tennis Defeats Nationally Ranked Carnegie Mellon

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The West Virginia Wesleyan Men's Tennis team defeated nationally ranked Carnegie Mellon on Saturday 6-3 for their first win of the year. The Bobcats were led by Mallya, Karasawa and Lin who picked up singles and doubles wins while Lindstrand picked up a singles win for the Cats as well.

Singles Competition
Kihiro Karasawa won 6-3 and 6-3
Emanuel Mallya won 6-3 and 6-3
Kevin Lin won 7-5 and 6-4
Jonathan Lindstrand won 6-4 and 6-1
Camillo Salvi was defeated 6-3 and 6-1
Anthony McIntosh lost 6-4 and 7-5

Doubles Competition
The team of Kevin Lin and Camillo Salvi won 8-5
Kihiro Karasawa and Emanuel Mallya were victorious 8-6
Anthony McIntosh and Jonathan Lindstrand lost 8-5

Coach Hoffman's Comments
"Carnegie Mellon has a really nice team and we're lucky to get away with one this early in the season. Coming out and playing such a tough team indoors in our first match I thought we matched their level when we needed to and we're fortunate to pick up the win."

Next Up For The Bobcats
Wesleyan travels to Bluefield State for a matchup at 1 p.m. on Monday.
