BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan Baseball looks to carry the momentum of their (3-1) conference start into their matchups with Wheeling on Sunday (Mar. 26) and West Liberty on Monday (Mar. 27). Weather forced these matchups to be pushed back a day as they were originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

THE BOBCATS
Wesleyan enters (7-9) overall and (3-1) in MEC play after splitting with AB and sweeping Notre Dame College earlier in the week. WVWC has won six out of their last seven as well.
Five Bobcats are batting .300+ and four have 10+ RBI so far this season.
Jack Tilton leads the way, hitting .397 (2
nd MEC) with 23 hits, four doubles, one triple, 1 HR and 12 RBI with a 1.015 OPS.
Devin Johnson has drove the most runs in for Wesleyan, sitting at 15 RBI (T-10
th MEC) while also batting .319.
Hunter Eplin continues to impress, lowering his ERA to 4.56 and improving his record to 2-2.
WHEELING CARDINALS
The Cardinals enter (9-8) overall and (0-4) in MEC play, getting swept by Charleston and West Virginia State on Sunday and Monday.
Wheeling is led by Scott Kondroik, who is batting .304 with 14 hits, two doubles and 10 RBI. Spencer Craig leads the team in HR with 2 and Kobe Hill leads the team in RBI with 11. In 30.1 IP, Kody McCarley has a 1.78 ERA, 2-2 W-L record and 38 strikeouts with four complete games for the Cardinals.
Ryan Lewicki is in his 5
th season leading the Wheeling Cardinals. Lewicki is (79-87) in his four-plus seasons as the HC, including a MEC North Division Championship in 2021. Lewicki started his coaching career in 2014 as a volunteer assistant coach at WVWC before going to Ohio Valley University for four seasons as an assistant.
WEST LIBERTY HILLTOPPERS
The Hilltoppers enter (5-13) overall and (1-3) in MEC play, taking one at West Virginia State but losing both matchups at Charleston.
Ty Helmke bats .303 and has 20 hits to lead the Hilltoppers. Trevor Thomas has been the power bat for WLU, hitting .259 with five doubles, 2 HR and 11 RBI. In a small sample size of 10.1 IP, Thomas has been efficient pitching as well, recording a 2.61 ERA in eight appearances.
Erick Burkle is in his 16
th total season with the WLU program and 11
th season at the helm. While at West Liberty, Burkle has averaged 20 wins per season every year and has surpassed 200 career wins at the hilltop. He started his coaching career at the high school ranks at Wheeling Central Catholic before joining the WLU staff.
