BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan Softball is on the road once again this weekend as they travel to Wheeling on Saturday and West Liberty on Sunday. The Bobcats swept both the Cardinals and the Hilltoppers in last seasons' matchups, including defeating WLU in the MEC Tournament.

Saturday vs Wheeling at 1 & 3 p.m.
Sunday vs West Liberty at 2 & 4 p.m.
THE BOBCATS
Wesleyan enters (30-11) overall and (15-5) in MEC play, previously being swept by Davis & Elkins on the road on Wednesday.
Morgan Norris (.358),
Taylor Swartz (.325) and
Alyssa Souders (.305) are all batting over .300 for the Bobcats as Norris has done more than just hit for average this year. Her 43 hits, three doubles, 7 HR and 38 RB leads the team.
Kendall Stoffel and
Hannah Hudson were given losses at D&E on Wednesday but still post a combined 26-7 record and 1.36 ERA.
WHEELING CARDINALS
The Cardinals enter (7-33) overall and (5-17) in MEC play, losing 15 out of their last 16 games. Wheeling was defeated by Davis & Elkins in both games of their doubleheader earlier today.
As a team, the Cardinals have only hit four HR so far this season and are led by Maddie Munoz, who is hitting .400 with 48 hits, seven doubles, seven triples and 21 RBI. Jenna Hollerich's 22 RBI leads the team. No pitcher on the Cardinals staff has under a 7.30 ERA as the Team ERA sits at 8.21.
Sara Pelegreen is in her 4
th total season as HC of the Cardinals. Pelegreen spent the previous three seasons as an assistant with Robert Morris and prior to joining their staff, she was the HC at Wheeling for three seasons. In 2018, she guided the Cardinals to a 27-24 record and first-ever appearance in the MEC Tournament Championship. Pelegreen played collegiately at WV State prior to joining the Cardinal staff.
WEST LIBERTY HILLTOPPERS
The Hilltoppers enter (12-28 overall) and (8-12) in MEC play. WLU was swept by Glenville State and split with Concord last weekend then split with Wheeling on Wednesday.
Riley Conkle leads the West Liberty offense, recording 34 hits, 11 doubles, one triple, 5 HR and 26 RBI as no other Hilltopper has over 20 RBI. Madison Angus has started 11 games for WLU, holding a 5-3 record, 3.22 ERA and one shutout.
Herb Minch is in his 25
th season leading the Hilltopper Softball program. Minch has led WLU to three consecutive 30-win seasons, including almost clinching a spot in the MEC Championship last season. Also in that three year span, he has clinched three-straight MEC North titles. Minch is a member of the WLU Hall of Fame, being inducted in 2012.
