Women’s Lacrosse Scores Double-Digit Goals For Second Time, Lose At Davis & Elkins

ELKINS, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Lacrosse team scored double-digit goals for the second time this season in their 23-13 loss at Davis & Elkins earlier today. D&E got off a whopping 58 shots but the Bobcats shot 33 times themselves. The Bobcats were forced into 26 turnovers and lost the draw control count 21-19.

Yuka Mizuide kicked off the scoring early in the 1st Quarter with the Senators answering rather quickly to tie it at 1-1. Gaidian Adams and Reese Hutson scored consecutive goals after D&E netted a goal to take the lead. A late goal from Davis & Elkins tied the game back up at 3-3 going into the 2nd Quarter.

Kaitlyn Canby then started the 2nd with a goal that was assisted by Raveena Navalgund. The Senators scored two more goals to retake the lead at 5-4. The Senators gained a two-goal lead but Kaitlyn Canby and Gaidian Adams scored back-to-back goals in under 30 seconds to tie it up at 7-7. D&E would score a goal with 25 seconds left, taking an 8-7 lead into the locker room.

Canby and Mizuide continued their impressive games with goals in the 3rd Quarter that kept the Bobcats close early on in the quarter. The Bobcats tied it at 9-9 but Davis & Elkins built a four-goal lead until Makenzi Lewellyn netted a goal on a free position shot at the end of the quarter, trimming the deficit to 13-10 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

The Senators began to pull away in the 4th, netting 10 goals and holding the Bobcats to just three. Makenzie Lewellyn scored twice and Yuka Mizuide scored the last goal of the game as D&E won 23-13.
Griselle Rosado led the Senators with seven goals on just nine shots. Ari Hinton netted six goals with two assists. Two other Senators had three goals. Marissa Cuevas had 15 saves in the win.

The Bobcats were led by Yuka Mizuide's four goals and one assist. Kaitlyn Canby and Makenzie Lewellyn both added three goals. Gabriella Gomez recorded 25 saves in the loss.
