BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Lacrosse team fell to the University of Charleston 20-2 at Cebe Ross Field this afternoon. The Golden Eagles recorded 52 shots to Wesleyan's six while also forcing WVWC into 44 turnovers.

The Golden Eagles scored six unanswered goals to start the game until Yuka Mizuide went from midfield all the way to the goal to net Wesleyan's first goal of the game. UC closed out the quarter with five more goals to make it 11-1 after a quarter of play.

Kaitlyn Canby started the 2nd Quarter with a goal but Charleston continued their hot offensive start, netting a goal a minute later to go back up by 10. UC finished out the remainder of the quarter with an additional three goals, taking a 15-2 lead into the locker room.

Wesleyan's defense was stronger in the 3rd Quarter, only allowing two goals and racking up 10 saves on 15 shots. The offense couldn't find their groove, only getting one shot off and turning it over 10 times. This struggle allowed Charleston to sustain their cushion, leading 17-2 after three. UC capped off a strong offensive performance with three goals in the final quarter to leave with a 20-2 victory.

The Golden Eagles had a balanced attack with 12 different players finding the back of the net and three of them had three goals apiece. Gianni Blundell had seven assists and six other Golden Eagles had at least one assist. UC goalies recorded one save on the day.
