BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Lacrosse team lost at home this afternoon to Davis & Elkins 16-3. The Bobcats got off 20 shots and forced the Senators into 15 turnovers in the loss.
The Senators got on the board to make it 1-0 within the first minute of action. After being held scoreless for over eight minutes, D&E scored two goals in just nine seconds. Wesleyan answered with a pair of their own goals as
Gaidian Adams and
Raveena Navalgund went back-to-back to now trail 3-2. Davis & Elkins scored once more before the 1
st Quarter ended, leading 4-2 after one.
D&E controlled most of the 2
nd Quarter, netting six unanswered goals to go up by eight. It wasn't until
Makenzi Lewellyn put another score up for Wesleyan late in the quarter, trimming the Senator lead to 10-3 going into halftime.
WVWC outshot Davis & Elkins in the 3
rd Quarter, getting off eight shots to their six. The Senators were able to turn their shots into goals, netting three goals to jump up 13-3 after three quarters of play. Davis & Elkins scored three goals once again in the 4
th Quarter, controlling almost every part of the game to pick up the 16-3 victory over the Bobcats.
The Senators were led by Ari Hinton's six goals and three assists. Hannah Lennon chimed in with three goals and an assist. Marris Cuevas had nine saves for D&E.
Makenzi Lewellyn,
Gaidian Adams and
Raveena Navalgund all netted a goal each for the Bobcats.
Gabriella Gomez had 11 saves on the day.
