FROSTBURG, Md. – The West Virginia Wesleyan Men's and Women's Track & Field teams closed out the MEC Outdoor Championships this afternoon at Frostburg State University with six championships. To go along with the first-place finishes, the Bobcats had 17 other Top-8 placements.
MEC Champions
Samantha Cash was crowned champion in three separate events. She won the Heptathlon (4278 points), 100m Hurdles (14.32) and the 400m Hurdles (1:03.35). Cash set an MEC meet record in the 100m Hurdles as well.
Leigha Hall won the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 11:38.03.
Oliver French was the champion in the Javelin Throw at 56.04m.
Aaron Kupfner won the 400m Hurdles, crossing at 54.49.
Top Finishes
Leigha Hall was 4
th in the 5000m run (18:33.68) and 6
th in the 10000m run (42:08.96).
Samantha Cash finished 2
nd in the triple jump with a jump of 11.67m, 2
nd in the high jump at 1.64m and 3
rd in the long jump at 5.42m.
Dakota Johnson placed 4
th in the 800m run with a time of 2:19.79.
Aubrey Wiethe finished 3
rd in the 400m hurdles at 1:08.22.
Brady Browning was 6
th in the pole vault at 2.93m.
Jacqualin Leaman placed 7
th in the shot put (10.62m) and 8
th in the hammer throw (38.08m).
Michelle Baughman finished 3
rd in the discus, throwing 37.96m.
Aaron Kupfner was 5
th in the 110m hurdles, crossing at 14.75.
Sterlin Thropp placed 4
th in the 400m dash with a time of 49.37.
Tanner Faulkiner finished 4
th in the 100m dash (10.87) and 5
th in the 200m dash (22.22).
Jake Harvey tied for 5
th in the high jump at 1.83m.
Roman Moore was 7
th in the hammer throw with a throw of 43.01m.
Team Event Finishes
The women finished 4
th in the 4x100m relay (50.00) and in the 4x400m relay (4:09.11).
The men were 5
th in the 4x100m relay (42.72) and 4
th in the 4x400m relay (3:26.46).
