Softball Ready For MEC Tournament, Set To Play Frostburg State Tomorrow

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan Softball starts postseason play tomorrow afternoon when they take on the No. 3 seed from the North Division, Frostburg State in the MEC Tournament. The Bobcat battle begins at 2:30 p.m. at the Botetourt Softball Complex in Troutville, Va. Win or lose, Wesleyan will play again at 7:30 p.m. against either Fairmont State or Glenville State.

How The Bobcats Faired Against The Field During The Regular Season
#1S Charleston
The Bobcats took 3 out of 4 against the South Division Champion Charleston. The two teams split with each other on Apr. 8 at UC but the Bobcats swept the doubleheader two weekends later, winning both games by one run. The lone loss to the Golden Eagles was a 2-1 defeat in 10 innings.

#1N Fairmont State
Wesleyan opened up MEC play with the North Division Champion Fairmont State back in late March, splitting with the Falcons in Fairmont. WVWC took the first game 4-0, however FSU won the second game 3-1.

#2N Notre Dame College (Ohio)
WVWC dominated NDC in their Apr. 2 doubleheader, winning the first game 8-0 in five innings and shutting out the Falcons once again in game two, 6-0. Between the two games, the Bobcats allowed just six hits while Morgan Norris poured in 8 RBI.

#3S Davis & Elkins
The Senators had the Bobcats number this season, winning 3 out of 4 games and sweeping the doubleheader in Elkins on Apr. 12. D&E won both of those games 3-2 and beat Wesleyan 1-0 earlier in the season in Buckhannon. The victory WVWC did have over the Senators was a 7-4 win where the Bobcats hit 2 HR.

#3N Frostburg State
Wesleyan won both games they played against Frostburg State during the opening weekend of conference play. WVWC took the first game 4-3 and shutout FSU 3-0 in the second game. Kendall Stoffel had a near no-hitter in game two but Frostburg opened up the bottom of the 7th with a hit, ending the no-hit bid for Stoffel.

#4S Glenville State
The Bobcats shutout the Pioneers twice in Glenville, winning 3-0 and 6-0. In the last two games of the season, the teams split as Glenville State took game one 2-1 and Wesleyan won the second game 6-0. In the four games played, WVWC recorded 32 hits.

#4N West Liberty
WVWC swept West Liberty in their doubleheader on Apr. 16. The Hilltoppers were defeated by the Bobcats 5-2 in the first game and 6-1 in the second game. Morgan Norris was 4-4 with 2 RBI in the first game as well.
