The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats (1-2-0) played on its back heel for much of its 90-minute contest with the University of Charleston Golden Eagles (3-0-1) and suffered a 2-0 loss, Wednesday in Buckhannon.
Â
Charleston got on the board early in the 9th minute on a high arching goal by Frankie Morrow that popped over Wesleyan keeper
Paige Miller and under the middle of the crossbar. The Golden Eagles second goal came 10 minutes into the second half when Lina Jaime curled a corner kick to the waiting foot of Carina Widaur who pushed the ball into the net from within the 6-yard box.
Â
Remaining on its defensive half for most of the match, the Bobcats could muster just 7 shots (2 on goal) to Charleston's 22, 13 of which were on goal. The Golden Eagles also topped the Bobcats on corners, taking 8 to Wesleyan's single try.
