Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Bobcat Invitational Recap: WVWC Sports Information

Wesleyan Volleyball Finishes 2-2 During Their Bobcat Invitational, As Hope Arce-Reed and Autumn Molenhouse Receive All Tournament Awards

The Bobcats volleyball team continued its 2023 campaign by hosting numerous teams in their Bobcat Invitational this past weekend. This Invitational included teams such as Glenville State, Seton Hill, University of Indianapolis, Central State, Bowie State, and Lock Haven University. The Bobcats finished 2-2, defeating Central State University and Bowie State, while taking loses to Seton Hill and University of Indianapolis.

Wesleyan started this invitational against Central State University and was in control throughout the entire match. Behind the great performance by Hope Arce-Reed, who had a game high 19 kills, allowed the Bobcats to defeat Central State 3-0. Winning 25-18, 25-12, and 25-15. Reed's performance was aided by Sarah McCall's 26 assist and Alexis Moeschler 7 digs. 

The Bobcats would continue their invitational against the University of Indianapolis, who had only lost two games during their 2023 campaign. Wesleyan would start off very slow in the first set, which in turn carried over into the rest of the match. UINDY was lead by Sophia Parlanti, who finished this match with 16 kills. UINDY would go on to win this match 3-0, winning 25-12, 25-13, and 25-18. In a losing effort, Hope Arce-Reed would finish with 13 kills and Sarah McCall with 24 assists. 

The Bobcats would look to bounce back against Bowie State and they were able to accomplish this goal. After strong performances by Hope Arce-Reed and Freshman Bhrooke Axe , the Bobcats coasted to a 3-0 sweep against Bowie State. Winning 25-20, 25-17 and 25-22. Arce-Reed finished with 10 kills and Axe finished with 7. Giving the Bobcats a 2-1 record so far during their Bobcat Invitational. 

In the last game of their Bobcat Invitational, Wesleyan would take on Seton Hill who had not lost a game during the Invitational. Wesleyan started this match off hot, as they were able to take the first set 25-13. Being led by Hope Arce-Reed and Makenzie Yates who combined for 18 kills during the entire match. The Bobcats hot start was ended as Seton Hill would go on to win the next three sets, being led by Paige Cole who finished the match with 16 kills. Wesleyan would go on to lose the last three sets 25-13, 25-19, and 25-18. Finishing off the Bobcat Invitational 2-2. 

Senior Hope Arce-Reed and Sophomore Autumn Molenhouse were awarded All-Tournament Honors for their great performances during the Bobcat Invitational. 

The Bobcats will continue their 2023 season as they will have their home opener against Notre Dame College on September 22nd at 7 p.m. This will be their first conference match of the 2023 season.
