Wesleyan Falls to West Virginia State 102-87

The winless streak for West Virginia Wesleyan (15) continued with a Saturday night loss to West Virginia State, 102-87.

The Bobcats were down a couple of regular starters which gave Jordan Cannon the chance to score a season high 11 points on 5-of-8 from the field. Anthony Craven Jr. also found extra time on the court and scored seven points and six assists.

But the game's high scorer and still the No. 5 leader in the Mountain East Conference with 16.4 points-per-game, was Deiker Padrino who accumulated 29 points on 9-of-14 from the field and 6-of-9 from the free-throw line.

Joshua Johnson added 10 points and Curtis Litton had nine.

The Bobcats suffered again from a high-turnover margin, giving up 22 possessions to the Yellow Jackets 10, and rebounding heavily favored State 39-26.

State was led by a pair of double-double performances, one by Arthur Cox who had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and the other by Nate Mims who scored 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Bobcats will travel to face the Bobcats of Frostburg State University Wednesday, Jan. 24. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
