Athens, W.Va.- The Wesleyan softball team would split an away series with Concord to take their conference record to 3-7. After sweeping Glenville State on the road, the softball team was looking to keep the momentum going into their second away series of the weekend.
Game 1:
The first game would be dominated on the rubber by
Kendall Stoffel who pitched a full 7 innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 earned run. She would collect an impressive 11 strikeouts to quiet the bats for Concord. Down 0-1 in the 5th inning,
Carlee Iannone would tie they game with a solo home run to left center. The game would stay tied till the top of the 7th where
Sydney Leadbetter would smoke a 2 RBI single bringing around
Megan McMackin and
Maya Reyes. Another run would come across in the inning on a fielding error to make it 4-1. Some notable players, Freshman
Mollie White would go 2-3 at the in the designated player spot and
Andie Dizon would go 2-4 on the day.
Game 2:
Game two was a tight ball game with all runs coming within the first three innings. Pitcher
Josi Fix would take the loss pitching 1.2 innings allowing 6 hits and 4 earned runs. Wesleyan would get on the board first when
Kendall Stoffel reached on a fielding error scoring
Brooklyn Osburn in the 1st inning. In the bottom of the 1st, Concord would answer with an RBI single and another run would score on a fielding error in right field to make it 1-2 Concord.
Brooklyn Osburn would tie it up in the 2nd inning with an RBI single through ther left side to bring in
Hallie Dinklocker. Concord would answer again in the 2nd with an RBI double, single, and sacrifice fly to make it 2-5 Concord. The Bobcats would chip at the lead in the 3rd with
Gracey Arnold lacing an RBI single up the middle to score
Andie Dizon.
Emma Jackson would follow with and RBI double to right center to make it 4-5 Concord.
Wesleyan will play at Salem University for a double header Friday, March 29th starting at 12 pm.
