South Euclid, Ohio-
The Wesleyan softball team traveled to Notre Dame of Ohio for a double header on Thursday, March 28th. They would fall in both games as offense seemed to be a struggle.
Game 1:
Notre Dame would score first in the 1st inning with an RBI ground out to make it 1-0. For Wesleyan,
Sydney Leadbetter would smoke and RBI single up the middle to bring
Gracey Arnold around to score to tie it up. Notre Dame would answer in the bottom 2nd with an RBI double. Two more runs would come to score in the 6th inning for Notre Dame as two RBI singles would make it 1-4.
Kendall Stoffel would take the loss pitching 5.1 innings allowing 6 hits and 4 earned runs. Offensively,
Andie Dizon and
Kendall Stoffel would both go 2-3 at the plate.
Game 2:
Game two would be a close one run game as both offenses would go back and forth scoring runs. Notre Dame would RBI single in the 1st inning and hit a solo home run to get out front 0-2. Wesleyan would have a big 5th inning bringing on 4 runs to take the lead.
Sydney Leadbetter would RBI single to right field followed by Courtney Fizer singling to center bringing in second baseman,
Jenna Gomez. With runners in second and third base,
Alyssa Rohr would hit a bunt to the infield collecting a single and RBI to give the Bobcats the lead 3-2.
Andie Dizon would single to right field to make it 4-2. Notre Dame would come back and score two in the 5th inning and one more run in the 6th to regain the lead 4-6. In the 7th, the Bobcats would fight back with an RBI double from
Gracey Arnold to make it a one run game, but proved to not be enough.
Softball will play at Salem University Friday, March 29th for a double header.
