After dropping a double header to Notre Dame, the softball team was looking to finish off the end of the week with some momentum going into their next home stand. They would split the two games with Salem, winning game 2.
Game 1:
Freshman,
Mollie White would have an impressive outing pitching 4.2 innings giving up just 1 earned run and collecting 2 strikeouts. Scoring for both teams would happen late in the the game. Salem would score first in the 5th inning with an RBI single and 3 more runs to score in the 6th inning to make it 0-4 Salem. The Bobcats would finally get in the runs column in the 7th inning with a SAC fly from Courtney Fizer to cut the lead to 3. With 2 outs,
Kendall Stoffel would hit a 2 RBI single to make it a one run game. Salem would make a pitching change and the game would end with a ground out to shortstop securing the victory for Salem.
Game 2:
Game two was dominated by the Bobcats' bats. With 16 total hits and 8 runs coming in the score, the Bobcats would secure their 12th win on the year with an 8 run 7th inning rally.
Victoria Wehrberger would get the win at pitcher pitching a perfect inning, giving up no hits or earned runs, after coming in for relief. The Bobcats would be down 0-4 going into the top of the 6th. Wesleyan would bat around in the top 7th after being down all game and make it 8-4 going into the bottom of the 7th.
Emily Ross would hit a 2 RBI double to break the goose egg for the Bobcats.
Gracey Arnold followed with a 2 RBI double to tie the game at 4-4. Freshman,
Brooklyn Osburn would RBI single scoring
Gracey Arnold to give the Bobcats the lead. Three more runs would come across in the inning on RBI hits from
Jenna Gomez and
Kendall Stoffel.
The Bobcats are back in Buckhannon for a long home stand starting with Bluefield State University on Tuesday, April 2nd for a double header, starting at 3:00pm.
