Elkins, W.Va.- The doubleheader was highlighted with great pitching in game 1 by
Kendall Stoffel, pitching a 2 hit shutout racking up 7 strikeouts. Defensive errors still plague the Bobcats' defense with a combined 5 errors between the two games.
Game 1:
Wesleyan would collect 9 hits and bring across two in the game. With the bases loaded in the 2nd inning,
Jenna Gomez would RBI single to left field scoring
Kendall Stoffel from third base to make it 1-0. Later in the 5 inning,
Kendall Stoffel would give herself some insurance runs by singling and bringing in another run to score, making it 2-0. Other notable performances at the plate right fielder,
Andie Dizon would go 3-4. Going into the bottom of the 7th, the Senators would get a lead off single.
Kendall Stoffel would strikeout two of the next three batters to end game 1.
Game 2:
Offensively in game 2, the Bobcats were held in check by the pitching of Davis and Elkins. The stater would pitch 7 innings allowing 7 hits and 2 earned runs.
Kelsi Brown would take the start for the Bobcats pitching 4 innings and allowing 2 earned runs. A SAC fly in the bottom of the 1st for the Senators would put them in the run column. Wesleyan would tie it up with an RBI single from
Kelsi Brown scoring
Kendall Stoffel. A solo home run for Davis and Elkins would edge them ahead 1-2 after the 2nd inning.
Carlee Iannone would RBI single to tie it up again at 2-2. In the 6th inning, a run would score on a wild-pitch and a 3 run home run would widen the Senator's lead to 2-6.
The Bobcats will be on the road again playing the University of Charleston Saturday, April 20th starting at 2:00pm.
