Softball played an out of conference series against the Tigers of Salem University at home. Game 1 was highlighted by good pitching and a walk-off SAC fly in the 8th inning for the Bobcats to win game 1. Game 2 the offense for the Bobcats seemed to be a struggle as Salem would bring around six runs.
Game 1:
Kendall Stoffel would pitch the whole 8 innings in game 1 allowing 1 earned run and collecting 8 strikeouts. Salem would get on the board first with a runner coming to score on a infield error to make it 0-1. In the 4th inning, Wesleyan would tie it up with an RBI single from
Carlee Iannone. Salem would get another run in the top of the 5th to make it 1-2. In the bottom 5th,
Mollie White would come in to pinch hit and rip an RBI double scoring
Jenna Gomez to tie the game once again. The game would go into extras with the runner on second rule to start the inning. In the top 8th, the Tigers wouldn't bring across any runs. In the bottom 8th,
Maya Reyes would stand on third base as
Sydney Leadbetter would hit a fly ball to center field. The throw to the plate would be wide left down the third base line and Reyes would come in to score winning the game for the Bobcats.
Game 2:
The Bobcats would bring across no runs in game 2 as 5 fielding errors helped the Tigers lead their way to victory.
Kelsi Brown would take the loss pitching 3 innings giving up 2 earned runs. The second at bat of the game, Salem would hit a solo shot over the left centerfield wall to make it 0-1. In the 3rd, a 2 RBI single would increase their lead to 0-3.
Victoria Wehrberger would come into pitch the 4th inning and the Tigers would hit around to bring in 3 more runs.
Josi Fix would come in relief and pitch 3.1 innings only allowing 2 hits and no earned runs.
The Bobcats are set to play their final weekend series of the year at home starting with Concord University Friday, April 26th, starting at 3:00pm.
