The West Virginia Wesleyan College Bobcats battled against Bluefield State University in a mid-week doubleheader on Wednesday.
Â
In game one, the Bobcats jumped out to a hot start in the top of the first by scoring six runs on two 2 RBI singles from
Ryan Drag and
Luke Burner, an RBI from
Cole Shearer, and a
Jack Tilton score on a wild pitch.
Â
From there on out, Bluefield started to inch its way back into the game up until the bottom of the fourth when Tahir Meulens hit a 3-run homerun to give the Blues a 7-6 lead.
Â
Bluefield later added one more insurance run to bolster its lead to two and make it 8-6.
Â
Wesleyan had no answers as they were only able to get one hit after its amazing first inning and dropped the first game of the doubleheader 8-6.
Â
Drake Long got the loss for the Bobcats and Braeden Major got the win.
Â
Losing game one in that fashion took the life out of Wesleyan in game two as they were only able to accumulate one hit off a Drag single.
Â
Bluefield State kept the bats hot as they scored 12 runs off 16 hits and took game two of the doubleheader to complete the season sweep.
Â
Aaron Bradley was the losing pitcher and Tahraun Hammond got the win for Bluefield.
Â
The Bobcats look to get season win number 11 against Glenville State University as they face off in a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 27 at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in Glenville.
