Volleyball Dominates At Big Blue Classic, Going 4-0

Bluefield State University- The Wesleyan Volleyball team has continued their win streak from the last match of the Coker Cobra Classic. After defeating Shorter University Saturday, September 14th, the Lady Bobcats continue a 6 game win streak.

Salem University: 3-0
They would first face Salem University again, after sweeping the Tigers at home September 10th. Wesleyan would sweep Salem again for their first match at the Big Blue Classic. Olivia Albrecht would lead Wesleyan in kills with 14, followed by Bhrooke Axe with 7. So far this season, Axe leads the Bobcats in kills with 98 followed by Emily Denision with 88. Against Salem, Denison would lead the team with 3 blocks. Alexis Moeschler would collect 10 digs on the back line for the Bobcats. Setter, Jalynn West would tally 32 assists along with 3 aces. 

Lees-McRae College: 3-2
This match would be taken to 5 sets with Wesleyan winning set 5, 15-13 in a close finish. Alauna Wilson would record the final kill in the 5th set to propel the Bobcats to their second victory of the tournament. Lees-McRae would win the first set, but Wesleyan would come back to win sets 2 and 3. Alauna Wilson would lead offensively with 15 kills followed by Bhrooke Axe with 11 kills. Alexis Moeschler would tally 23 digs followed by Jalynn West with 14, and Emily Denison with 13 digs. Sydney Workman would lead the Bobcats this match in aces with 3. 

Erskine College: 3-2
This match would showcase a back and forth effort by both teams. Wesleyan would win set one, 25-17, but Erskine would win set two and each team would alternate winning sets till Wesleyan would come out on top, winning set five, 15-5. Alauna Wilson would lead with 17 kills followed by Bhrooke Axe and Emily Dension with 11 kills each. Alexis Moeschler would have a performance with 8 total serving aces and 21 digs defensively. Setter, Jalynn West would collect 52 total assists, 11 digs, and 1 block assist. Set five would end with Alauna Wilson and Bhrooke Axe getting block assists on an Erskine attack attempt. 

Shorter University: 3-1
Wesleyan would defeat Shorter University taking sets 1,2, and 4 to finish at a perfect 4-0 on the weekend. Alauna Wilson would lead again in total kills with 14, followed by Bhrooke Axe and Olivia Albrecht with 10 kills each. Faith Grafton would lead the match with 3 serving aces for the Bobcats and 21 digs defensively. Bhrooke Axe would tally 5 blocks along with Emily Deniosn and setter, Jalynn West who collected 4 blocks each.

The Wesleyan Volleyball team will travel to Concord University for another four game tournament starting Friday, September 20th against Bluefield State University at 11:00am.
