ATHENS, W.Va. — October 18, 2025 — The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team faced a tough test on the road Saturday afternoon, falling 5–0 to a high-powered Concord University side at Callaghan Stadium.
 
Concord (10–3–0, 8–3–0 MEC) wasted little time establishing its offensive rhythm, netting three goals before halftime. Malher Santi Possu opened the scoring in the 12th minute off a setup from Issa El Assal. The Mountain Lions doubled their lead in the 30th minute when Dominique Malhomme finished a cross from Santi Possu and Daniel Rivers. Just four minutes later, Santi Possu struck again, this time assisted by Jaden McKree, to give Concord a commanding 3–0 advantage heading into the break.
 
Wesleyan (3–8–2, 2–7–1 MEC) struggled to find attacking opportunities in the opening period, managing no shots in the first 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Matteo Marciani was active early, making a pair of key saves to limit further damage before halftime.
 
The Bobcats found a bit more rhythm offensively after the break, registering three shots, two of which came from Adam Gribben, who provided Wesleyan's most consistent attacking presence. However, the Concord defense held firm, not allowing a single shot on goal throughout the match.
 
Concord continued scoring in the 68th minute when Santi Possu completed his hat trick off an assist from Keeyan Thomas. Less than a minute later, defender Adam Leibowitz added a fifth goal to close out the scoring for the hosts.
 
The Bobcats return to Culpepper Stadium Wednesday, Oct. 22 to host West Liberty University at 7:30 p.m.
