Wesleyan Sweeps Davis & Elkins to Clinch the No.1 Seed in the MEC Tournament

ELKINS, W.Va. — West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball closed its regular season in dominant fashion on Friday night, earning a 3–0 road sweep of Davis & Elkins (25–18, 25–19, 27–25) inside the McDonnell Center. With the win, the Bobcats finish 11–4 in MEC play (.733) and officially lock up the No. 1 seed to host next week's Mountain East Conference Tournament.

In Set 1 (25–18), Wesleyan's offense settled in with 12 kills, led by MacKenna Halfin, Emily Denison, and Bhrooke Axe. Solid back-row play from Lacey Guthrie and setter distribution from Mia Myers and Alexis Moeschler kept the Bobcats in control.

In Set 2 (25–19), Wesleyan elevated its efficiency to .278, with Halfin continuing to overwhelm the D&E block. Guthrie added a service ace, and the Bobcats' passing game held steady, allowing the offense to run cleanly through the middle and right-side attacks.

The third set was the tightest, featuring three lead changes and six ties. D&E posted its best offensive frame of the night with 13 kills, but Wesleyan's balanced attack answered every push. Halfin delivered several late-set kills, and Axe added a crucial swing before the Bobcats secured the extended 27–25 clincher.
