Box Score Wesleyan Falls Short in High-Scoring Battle Against Roosevelt
Auburndale, FL – In a game filled with offensive fireworks, West Virginia Wesleyan fell to Roosevelt 17-8 in their season opener at Lake Myrtle #7.
Roosevelt set the tone early with an explosive 11-run first inning, capitalizing on a combination of timely hitting and defensive miscues from Wesleyan. The Bobcats found themselves in an early deficit and struggled to keep pace despite a late-game rally.
Wesleyan's offense was led by Alex Smith, who collected two hits, one RBI, and one run scored. Grant Smith also contributed with two hits and three RBIs, while Ethan Fraley crossed the plate three times. The Bobcats' biggest surge came in the seventh inning, where they pushed across five runs, but it wasn't enough to overcome Roosevelt's dominant start.
Despite the tough loss, Wesleyan showed resilience late in the game and will look to bounce back in their next matchup.
