Stoffel Delivers A One Hit Shutout To Edge The Golden Eagles

In a tightly contested pitcher's duel, West Virginia Wesleyan edged out the University of Charleston (W.V.) with a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to a key third-inning play and a dominant performance in the circle.

The lone run of the game came in the bottom of the third inning when Alyssa Rohr singled and advanced to second on a miscue by Charleston's left fielder, RWest. The error proved costly, as Rohr ultimately came around to score—an unearned run that would stand as the game-winner.

Rohr was the offensive standout for Wesleyan, going 2-for-3 and scoring the only run of the game. The rest of the Bobcats' lineup was quiet, recording just two hits total against Charleston's pitcher AMass, who went the distance with six strikeouts and no walks over six innings, while allowing only one unearned run.

On the flip side, Kendall Stoffel was masterful for Wesleyan, tossing a complete-game shutout. She allowed just one hit and two walks over seven innings, striking out five and needing just 97 pitches to secure the win.
