Buckhannon, W.Va. — The West Virginia Wesleyan College men's and women's swimming teams competed against Davis & Elkins College on Saturday afternoon. Davis & Elkins claimed the meet on both sides, winning the women's meet 125–26 and the men's meet 112–35
Women's Meet Highlights
The Bobcat women were led by
Bre Waldron, who delivered one of Wesleyan's top performances of the meet with a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:46.70. Waldron also added a runner-up effort in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 2:29.97 to score additional points for Wesleyan
Maddie Macmillan contributed multiple solid swims for Wesleyan, placing third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:30.67) and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (29.49).
Taylor Hess showed endurance and versatility, finishing fourth in the 500-yard freestyle and fourth again in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 3:03.53
In relay action, the Wesleyan "A" quartet of Waldron, Macmillan, Hess, and
Savannah Carvajal placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay, posting a combined time of 1:57.00 to close out the women's portion of the meet
Men's Meet Highlights
On the men's side,
Aaron Dworsky turned in a standout performance for Wesleyan, winning the 200-yard backstroke in 2:11.80; this was his best performance of the season in this event. Dworsky also anchored the Bobcats' 200-yard freestyle relay team and finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.70, another individual season-best.
Distance specialist
Aaron Taylor placed second in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking a 5:37.32, and later added a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (58.87).
Owen Caynor and
Ryan Guerron went 2–3 for Wesleyan in the 100-yard freestyle with respective times of 57.64 and 57.89, while also contributing in the relays. Guerron's time was a season-best for him.
The Wesleyan men closed the meet with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay as
Alex Cedillo, Caynor, Guerron, and Dworsky combined for a time of 1:42.47
