Bobcat's win 1-0 against Shawnee State

The West Virginia Wesleyan College men's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Shawnee State University on October 25, 2026. Powered by an early goal and disciplined defensive play, the Bobcats protected their first-half lead to secure the win at home.

Wesleyan struck quickly in the opening minutes of the match. At the 6:29 mark, Aidan Clayton found the back of the net to put the Bobcats ahead 1-0. Wesleyan successfully carried its one-goal advantage into the halftime break.

Shawnee State intensified its offensive attack in the second half, generating five shots and earning five corner kicks. Goalkeeper Mathias Kasseth and the Bobcats' defensive backline held firm under pressure throughout the final 45 minutes. Kasseth turned away key second-half attempts from Sei Aitoku, Samuel Richter, and Hugo Martins down the stretch to preserve the clean sheet. Midfielder Axel Chilet recorded Wesleyan's second shot on target in the 57th minute, which was stopped by Shawnee State goalkeeper Eduardo Pena.

By the final whistle, Shawnee State held an 8–2 advantage in total shots and a 5–1 edge in corner kicks. Kasseth recorded three saves over 90 minutes in goal for Wesleyan, supported by a key team save, while Shawnee State keepers Eduardo Pena and Tomas Ibarra combined for one save.

The Bobcats are back in action one last time this season on Wednesday, the 28th, against Salem. Let's Go Cats!
